Phythematics 8-Feynman Diagrams

14 Oct

The Feynman Diagrams are a pictorial representation of the mathematical expressions describing the behavior and interaction of elementary particles. The American physicist Richard Feynman introduced them in 1948.

NB-“Phythematics” is meant to be a short calligraphic text containing calculus aiming to maximize understanding of physics and natural processes. For the fun of it. Remember, for better learnig:

  • Write notes in books
  • Add unique visual notes to digital documents
  • Stick with paper and pen for creative pursuits.

Phythematics 7- A new theory about ion transport in electrolytes

3 Oct

The textbook explanation given for centuries by Grotthuss mechanism is no longer valid. The transport of ions in the electrolytes process via another (Pines) mechanism. The figure attempts to catch the main idea.

«Prof. Ehud Pines suggested, based on his experimental studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, together with his Ph.D. student Eve Kozari, and theoretical studies by Prof. Benjamin Fingerhut on the structure of Prof. Pines’ protonated water clusters, that the proton moves through water in trains of three water molecules.

The proton trains “build the tracks” underneath them for their movement and then disassemble the tracks and rebuild them in front of them to keep going. It’s a loop of disappearing and reappearing tracks which continues endlessly. Similar ideas were put forward by a number of scientists in the past, however, according to Prof. Pines, they were not assigned to the correct molecular structure of the hydrated proton which by its unique trimeric structural properties leads to promoting the Grotthuss mechanism.» [1]
